The State Duma deputy: “Plahotniuc is ready to extend the practice of repression to Transnistria”
Chisinau government, captured by the oligarch Plahotniuc, is ready to apply the practice of political repression, used on the right bank of the Dniester on Transnistria. It was stated during the discussion in the State Duma of the Russian Federation about the situation around Transnistria.
In the document, Duma deputies urge the Moldovan and Ukrainian authorities “to abandon all forms of pressure on Transnistria and insist on the early holding of the next round of negotiations in the “5 + 2” format.
According to the deputies of the State Duma, today the Moldovan authorities carry out a destructive, belligerent policy towards Transnistria. LDPR deputy, Anton Morozov, who concluded an agreement on cooperation with “Our Party” of Renato Usatyy, voiced this point of view.
“I would like to draw your attention to a number of aspects. There had been much discussions about the prehistory of Transnistria conflict, but in fact, little attention has been paid to what is happening today within the government of the Republic of Moldova. The problem is that now, neither Dodon, as the elected president, nor his Socialist Party can fully determine the policy of Moldova. The oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc, who gained control over most of the posts in the government, over law enforcement bodies, in parliament, mainly determines this policy. As a result of the fact that he actually seized power in Moldova, the situation towards Transnistria is becoming more belligerent,” Morozov said in his statement.
“Apparently, the bad example of neighboring Ukraine, where Plahotniuc’s partner, Poroshenko is trying to solve the conflict in Donbass by use of force, was contagious. The authorities of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine have organized an economic blockade of Transnistria and are trying to provoke a new armed conflict on the Dniester. If the escalation of the situation is not stopped, the consequences would be extremely disastrous for the entire region and the tragedy of Donbass can repeat in Transnistria,” - the deputy warned.
Morozov regretted that Moldovan President, Igor Dodon, encouraged, according to available information, the introduction of Moldovan-Ukrainian joint border checkpoint on the border of Transnistria and Ukraine, which actually leads to a blockade of the region.
“Chisinau attempts, with the support of Kiev, to subordinate by force Transnistria, can result in the resumption of the frozen conflict on the Dniester. The result will not seem to you too weak. We must do everything to preserve the fragile peace achieved at the cost of significant efforts,” Morozov said.
According to him, “the order that Chisinau authorities are trying to impose in Transnistria can be judged according to the repression they launched against their own opposition.” And this is best exemplified by the case of “Our Party”, headed by the young Moldovan politician, Renato Usatyi.”
