The vice-chairman of “Our Party”, Ilian Casu, on behalf of the political party recalled CEC how the party “Patria” headed by Renato Usatyi was illegally removed from the parliamentary elections in 2014 and emphasized the need to be aware of this fact in order to prevent the recurrence of “such serious crime”. He stated this at a round table focused on CEC activity, held in Chisinau by the organization “Promo-Lex”.
“In November 2014, with the direct participation of CEC, the most serious crime against democracy was committed - forcibly and illegally the party “Patria” has been excluded from the election campaign, on the lists of which Renato Usatyi and other our colleagues were running. They were deprived of the constitutionally guaranteed right to be elected into public offices,” he recalled.
Stating that the illegality of these actions was fully proved during the trials, Casu urged CEC and the civil society to take measures to prevent the recurrence of similar situations in the future.
“Over the past few weeks, I have had discussions with development partners. It is possible that the pre-election campaign is about to begin, and it is necessary to inform those who come to Moldova from international organizations as observers, of this - as I said, crime or, if formulated diplomatically - catastrophe, cataclysm against democracy in Moldova.”
“We have to do whatever necessary that such crime, catastrophe, cataclysm never happen again,” Casu stressed.
