The chairman of “Our Party,” Renato Usatyi, called the detention of customs officials at Chisinau airport by masked security forces “a show and a simulation of the fight against corruption.” He wrote on Tuesday on social networks<\/a> that these actions against ordinary customs officers are “eyewash.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Although the criminal case involves the children of current and former deputies, it is still nothing more than a sham. We often see arrests of police officers, customs officers, doctors, low-ranking officials for bribes of a few hundred lei or euros, while large-scale corruption and smuggling thrive. And this happens under the protection of high-ranking representatives of PAS,” Usatyi said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In his understanding, “corruption mostly occurs when people are forced to break the law to ensure their minimal existence because the state cannot guarantee them a decent standard of living.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The fact that large-scale corruption is not only not investigated but even encouraged is also the fault of the state. Fighting large-scale corruption should be a priority! We will achieve through a referendum early parliamentary elections and provide professionals in government institutions with the freedom to eradicate large-scale corruption. After all, it is precisely this fact that deprives citizens of their last means of existence,” Usatyi said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
