“OUR PARTY” CHAIRMAN WILL PROPOSE TO PRESIDENT MAIA SANDU TO INTRODUCE IN CONSTITUTION BAN ON SALE OF LAND TO FOREIGNERS

The chairman of “Our Party”, Renato Usatii, will propose to Moldovan President Maia Sandu to introduce into the Constitution a provision banning the sale of land to foreigners. He wrote on social media on Monday that he will present a bill to protect Moldovan land through a constitutional amendment. Usatii believes this will be a “test of honesty” for the president.

“I will also send the same bill to parliament. Deputies can register it and adopt it with the votes of both the ruling party and the opposition. After all, everyone declares that they are against the sale of land to foreigners,” the presidential candidate said.

In his opinion, this constitutional provision cannot be changed except through a national referendum, as in the case of sovereignty and neutral status of the state”.

“This will be a reliable guarantee that the lands will not be sold to foreigners. If Sandu does not sign this legislative initiative to amend the Constitution, I will do it as president of Moldova with my first decree,” Usatii stressed.
