“Our Party” has filed a lawsuit against the State Services Agency (ASP) for ‘unjustified refusal’ to register its party symbol – a bunch of grapes. The party’s press service informed that the agency refused to register amendments to the party’s constitution, which provides for the approval of this official symbol. Previously, the symbol of the “Cluster of Grapes” was duly registered as a trademark with AGEPI on April 10, 2025.
“The symbol was officially approved at the party’s National Council meeting on April 29, 2025 and incorporated into the Statutes in accordance with the law. But despite this, on May 21, the agency decided to refuse registration, citing the alleged similarity of the symbol with the emblem of the previously registered “Conservative Party”, which, according to the decision of the CEC в„– 3373 of February 14, 2025 is in the process of liquidation”, – stated in the message.
The “Our Party” considers the decision of the State Services Agency “unlawful, unjustified and contrary to the legislation in the field of intellectual property and regulation of political parties”.
“The refusal does not provide specific legal grounds that could justify not accepting the changes. Moreover, the trademark “Bunch of Grapes” is valid and officially recognized by AGEPI, and any claims of similarity with unprotected symbols cannot serve as a legal basis for refusal,” notes ‘Our Party’.
The party believes that such actions call into question the observance of the principles of legality and impartiality. In this connection, Our Party filed a lawsuit with the court demanding to oblige the ASP to register changes to the party’s charter.
