“OUR PARTY” LEADER RENATO USATII CALLED FOR ADOPTION OF NEW MOLDOVAN CONSTITUTION

The chairman of “Our Party” Renato Usatii called for the adoption of a new Moldovan Constitution. On the occasion of Constitution Day, celebrated in Moldova on July 29, he wrote in his Telegram channel that “over 30 years, the Constitution has undergone numerous changes and interpretations.”

“The changes were almost always opportunistic. As the government changed, so did the Constitution. What is left of the Constitution, in which three decades ago its respected authors – constitutional law experts, economists, historians, deputies – put their knowledge and wisdom? Today, even the most recognized experts of constitutional law cannot accurately name the number of amendments and interpretations to which it has been subjected since then,” the politician said.

In his opinion, “today in parliament, those who sing the praises of the Constitution are those who cynically mock it, ignoring the aspirations of the people, the principles of justice and the rule of law.”

“The scary thing is that, most likely, we are yet to witness new brazen trampling of the Constitution. Unless we put an end to it! Moldova needs a new Constitution, which, first of all, will preserve the viability of the Moldovan state. And secondly, it will lay a solid foundation for its further sustainable and long-term development,” Usatii concluded.
