“OUR PARTY” ACTIVIST DEMANDS INVESTIGATION OF TENDER OF MINISTRY OF INTERNAL AFFAIRS FOR INSTALLATION OF VIDEO CAMERAS FOR FIXING TRAFFIC RULES

“Our Party” activist Eduard Plesca demands an independent investigation of the MIA tender for the installation of video cameras to record traffic rules. Plesca, who is a councilor of the Balti Municipal Council, claims that “the technical specifications of the tender were drawn up by a company that turned out to be the favorite and eventually the winner of the procedure, and all inconvenient competitors were eliminated under far-fetched pretexts.”

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated a tender worth more than 8.3 million lei in October 2024 for the purchase of a video camera system. This was done contrary to the recommendations of the Court of Accounts, which pointed out the need to initiate such procurement procedures no later than the first quarter of the calendar year. (…) The tender turned into a mockery of taxpayers,” Plesca wrote on social networks.

He noted that the decision was challenged before the National Agency for Dispute Settlement (ANSC), which on January 6, 2025, found that the Ministry of Interior acted subjectively and in violation of the law by canceling the procurement procedure.

Plesca poses a number of questions to the MIA leadership and the government:

“Why were the warnings of economic agents about the falsification of the tender ignored? What will happen to more than 8 million lei allocated from the budget? Who will take responsibility for these violations? What role did Prime Minister Dorin Recean, former Minister of Interior, play in this scheme, given the previous projects? Why does the “independent press” avoid this topic?”.
