“OUR PARTY” LEADER BELIEVES JUSTICE SYSTEM REFORM IS COMPLETELY COMPROMISED AND HAS BROUGHT JUSTICE TO DEAD END

The chairman of “Our Party”, Renato Usatii, believes that “the reform of the ruling PAS Party in the justice sector is completely compromised, which predictably brought Moldova’s justice to a dead end.”

He wrote in his Telegram channel that “after the recent resignation of more than half of the judges of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, the consideration of thousands of criminal, civil and administrative cases has been suspended indefinitely.”

“The judicial decisions that people are waiting for will have to be put aside for months or even years, the consideration of many cases will have to start again. Justice reform is necessary, but not in such a primitive way as PAS is doing,” Usatii said.

In his opinion, the reform “should not be carried out by the hands of external ‘experts’ with dubious reputations and problems with integrity.”

“The problem with PAS is that it has compromised the very idea of external evaluation by involving dubious personalities. The justice system does not trust PAS assessments and does not want to become a political tool. Even the acting prosecutor general and the head of the anti-corruption prosecutor’s office appointed by the current government recognize this. In fact, the PAS forms its own political team of judges with the help of imitated external assessments, which, in fact, boil down to weeding out the undesirable and leaving those convenient for the ruling party,” the OP leader stressed.
