RENATO USATII CLAIMS THAT THE AUTHORITIES ARE PREPARING THE THEFT OF THE STATE ENTERPRISE “RIVER PORT OF UNGHENI”

The chairman of “Our Party” and potential presidential candidate Renato Usatii said that the authorities are preparing the theft of the state enterprise ‘Ungheni River Port’, which includes the Giurgiulesti Passenger and Cargo Port. He said this at a briefing on Wednesday, publishing details of the investigation on his website.

According to the politician’s investigation, the Parliament’s Commission for Foreign Policy and European Integration approved a consultation agreement with the International Finance Corporation for the design, financing, reconstruction, expansion, operation and maintenance of the Ungheni River Port (which operates the Giurgiulesti passenger and cargo port).

Usatii says the agreement will be approved at one of the next government meetings. According to the document, a feasibility study will be completed between December 2024 and February 2025. And by May 2025, a public-private partnership agreement should be concluded.

Usatii notes, however, that the agreement violates public-private partnership legislation. He also says the ratification may be a government responsibility, due to lack of sufficient support from the ruling majority.

“If a vote of no confidence is not moved within 72 hours of the government assuming responsibility, or if the submitted vote of no confidence is rejected, the bill is deemed passed and becomes effective for the government. According to information from PAS, a quorum will not be present for the vote of no confidence, so the agreement will take effect. To avoid a big scandal of taking responsibility also several laws of social and financial and economic nature will be passed, which will be favorably received by the citizens. I remind you that the theft of the billion was also realized through the government’s assumption of responsibility for changes in legislation,” Usatii recalled, saying that ‘Infrastructure Minister Andrei Spinu is behind this scheme’.
