LEADER OF “OUR PARTY” CRITICIZED PAS INITIATIVE TO TURN THE SUPREME SECURITY COUNCIL INTO AN EXECUTIVE BODY

The chairman of “Our Party” Renato Usatii has sharply criticized the initiative of the ruling party PAS to turn the Supreme Security Council (SSC) from an advisory body into an executive body whose decisions will be binding. The politician believes that in this way “the ground is being prepared for running the country without parliament and government.”

“This is contrary to the Constitution. PAS and President Maia Sandu want to turn Moldova into a pocket state,” Usatii said.

According to him, such transformation of the PAS contradicts the Constitution and grossly violates the principle of separation of powers.

“This turns Moldova into a pocket state, where there are no more laws or rules, and all the president’s decisions – must necessarily be executed, regardless of their legality,” the politician said.

Usatii believes that if this “legal absurdity” is adopted, we will get two parallel states, which will lead not only to a political and economic crisis, to a security crisis, but also to the deepest institutional collapse.

The Our Party leader says the PAS understands that they will lose their parliamentary majority after the fall elections and are already trying to concentrate all power in the hands of the president.

“Their goal is to turn the PAS, that is, Maia Sandu herself, into the main governing body of the country, excluding both the parliament and the government from governing. Moreover, they want to make it so that none of them is responsible for the decisions they make. I understand that PAS has trembling knees and they hope to run away to the presidency after the elections. But what they are trying to pull off now is out of line. The Republic of Moldova belongs to the citizens and is not a toy in the hands of Maia Sandu and the Soros grantmakers. That is why we need to mobilize more than ever and take back our country. They are ready to set the country on fire just to stay in power – and this is too much!” the politician said.
