Renato Usatii: PAS is brake on country’s development, and “Our Party” will become its engine

The chairman of “Our Party”, Renato Usatii, criticized the approach of the ruling PAS Party “to promote people to positions on the basis of political affiliation rather than professional competence.” He said this in a TV program, emphasizing that this can no longer continue.

“State positions were handed out on the principle of political affiliation, not competence or professionalism. One party, two at most, agreed, distributing seats among their own. And when they lacked people, they kept looking for them among their own members, completely ignoring professionals from other parties….. This approach is deeply mistaken,” Usatii believes.

He recalled that after the resignation of Gavrilita’s government, he publicly proposed to President Maia Sandu to invite all pro-European parties and select professionals, regardless of political affiliation, but this proposal was ignored.

“They continued to promote people from PAS. An illustrative example: Bolea – who has no real connection to agriculture – becomes Minister of Agriculture, then Infrastructure. At the same time, real professionals are eliminated just because they don’t have a PAS party ticket. (…). The more they talk about democracy and European values, the more they hinder Moldova’s development and European integration. The PAS party is a brake. “‘Our Party’ will be the engine!”, Usatii concluded.
