Renato Usatii: The CEC decision will be challenged, including in international instances

The chairman of “Our Party” (OP), Renato Usatii, threatens protests in response to the CEC decision to refuse to register the initiative group for a referendum on early parliamentary elections. He said this at a briefing on Tuesday, even before the Central Election Commission meeting.

According to him, “the CEC has already received from the presidential administration a draft decision to deny registration of the initiative group.”

He also said that the CEC decision will be challenged, including in international instances.

“We will appeal to all international institutions with all these delusional decisions written in the presidential administration, if they are adopted in the CEC. We will demonstrate to all development partners that not only you are not fighting for Moldova’s European future, but you are illiterate and incompetent in almost all the fields you are in charge of,” the “Our Party” chairman said.

In his understanding, “there are no legal grounds for refusing to register the initiative group, and the arguments put forward by the presidential administration have no legal basis.”

“For example, officials question whether early parliamentary elections are a matter of national interest. We will announce the date of the protest action and convince Sandu of what the majority of Moldovan citizens want – early parliamentary elections,” Usatii concluded.
